Top Ten Tuesday - Spring Reading

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme for bloggers who like books and lists.  It's awesome and is graciously hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

The Top Ten Tuesday topic this week is the Spring To-Be-Read list.  I find making these lists relatively easy but sticking to them is another story.  BUT... I did really great on my Winter TBR!  I normally average reading about 30% from my lists but this winter I did 70% and I'm in the middle of the 8th book.  I am obviously doing better at sticking to a reading list!  The only two I haven't read: Mad Scientist's Daughter and Ancillary Justice so I think they will be the first two.

1) The Mad Scientist's Daughter by Cassandra Rose Clarke

I am particularly intrigued by the idea of falling in love with an android which is a major component of this book.

2) Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie

This is an award winner that sounds like an engrossing and unique read.

3) Fingersmith by Sarah Waters

I haven't heard a bad word about this book or even about the author Sarah Waters.  It's about time she and I became acquainted.  This book would also help me meet a couple of my 2015 reading challenges.

4)  Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman

This one was just released on March 10th, the sequel to Seraphina, which was one of my favorites from a couple years ago.  I've avoided reviews of it thus far but it has a pretty high rating on Goodreads!

5) The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro

I am very intrigued by this newest book by Ishiguro and put a hold on it at the library before it was released.  Unfortunately it came in at the exact same time as a bunch of other holds and I panicked so didn't read it.  I'd like to get to it soon.

This is a scandalous omission in my childhood reading and this will also help contribute to a couple of my challenges.

7)  Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger

A Victorian finishing school that trains young women in dancing, deportment and espionage!

8) Red by Alyxandra Harvey

A new book by Alyxandra Harvey!  And it's a re-telling of little red riding hood!

9) Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman

I don't read enough poetry and this seems an appropriate volume for spring.

Another book that's been on my TBR for a while and for some reason it seems like a good spring read.  It's about Bill Bryson's childhood in the 1950s in Des Moines, IA.

That's it for this week!  What's on your list for this spring?
